1. The Triple Coating of Goyardine Canvas
The core secret of Goyardine canvas lies in its coating—a waterproof layer made from a mixture of Arabic gum (Crystal Gum Arabic) and natural resin. Craftsmen must apply at least three layers by hand, with each layer air-drying for 72 hours. The final result is a 0.8-millimeter-thick matte film. This formula, developed in the 19th century, remains a closely guarded trade secret to this day.

2. The 0.2-Millimeter Precision of Pointillism
Each dot in the Y-pattern measures only 1.2 millimeters in diameter. Craftsmen use a specially made badger hair brush (with a 0.2-millimeter tip) dipped in acrylic resin pigment, filling each dot through a perforated aluminum stencil. Sixteen dots are painted per square centimeter, and the entire process requires the use of a magnifying glass. A single tote bag takes over eight hours to complete.

- Vegetable-Tanned Leather: Collaborating with the Pelleteria Caravaggio workshop in Tuscany, Italy, and the Tanneries Roux workshop in Grenoble, France, using oak bark tanning. The leather is naturally air-dried for 90 days to develop a beeswax-like texture.

2. Leather Processing Techniques
- Edge Treatment: An exclusive “three oils and three waxes” process—first applying leather filler, then treating with custom edge oil from the Atelier Du Cuir workshop in France (containing shea butter and palm wax), and finally heating and rubbing with canvas to penetrate the wax layer. This technique can withstand temperature differences from -20°C to 50°C.
3. Sewing Standards
- Double-Needle Saddle Stitching: Using custom linen thread from J.& J. Brooks in the UK (0.45-millimeter diameter) with an exact spacing of eight stitches per inch.
